FCA Baseball Tryouts
PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING YOUR PLAYER
FCA Baseball is not a recreational baseball program. While we may offer both Competitive and Recreation team opportunities, our program is built around player development, accountability, competition, character, and representing Jesus Christ both on and off the field.
Our goal is bigger than baseball. We are committed to developing young men who compete for the glory of God, represent Jesus Christ the right way, and learn how to lead with discipline, accountability, responsibility, teamwork, and character both on and off the field.
Please review the information below before registering to ensure FCA Baseball is the right fit for your player and family.
TRYOUT PROCESS
All players will participate in a structured FCA Baseball tryout led by our coaching staff.
Throughout the tryout, coaches will evaluate players both on and off the field. While baseball ability is important, we are also looking for players who demonstrate character, coachability, effort, attitude, competitiveness, and a willingness to learn.
We believe who a player is matters just as much as what a player can do.
TEAM SELECTION PROCESS
Following tryouts, FCA coaches will meet and review player evaluations.
Players may receive one of the following invitations:
Competitive Team Invitation
Players selected for a Competitive Team roster will receive a formal invitation to join an FCA Competitive Team. These teams compete at the highest level appropriate for their grade and age group and are built around player development, competitive excellence, and our FCA MVP Standards.
Recreation Team Invitation
Players selected for a Recreation Team roster will receive a formal invitation to join an FCA Recreation Team. Recreation Teams focus on skill development, game experience, character growth, and preparing players for future competitive opportunities within FCA Baseball.
Practice Player Invitation
Players who demonstrate strong potential but may not yet be ready for a full roster position may be offered a Practice Player role. Practice Players train alongside FCA teams and may earn future roster opportunities as openings become available.
No Current Opening Available
Due to roster limitations, team needs, or developmental considerations, some players may not receive an invitation following tryouts. We encourage these families to continue participating in future FCA Baseball opportunities and future evaluations.
Team placement decisions are based on a combination of baseball ability, developmental readiness, coachability, character, effort, attitude, competitiveness, and overall fit within the FCA Baseball culture.
FCA MVP STANDARDS
Our culture is built around what we call our MVP Standards.
These standards reflect who we are as a program and what we believe championship culture looks like both on and off the field.
FCA Baseball players are expected to:
• Show up prepared and ready to work
• Compete with purpose and maximum effort
• Respond the right way to adversity
• Be accountable with no excuses
• Encourage teammates and put the team first
• Represent Jesus and FCA Baseball the right way at all times
These standards are not just words on a poster. They directly influence the environment we create, the trust we build within teams, and in many cases, playing time and opportunities.
Talent matters, but so does character, effort, coachability, body language, preparation, energy, and being a great teammate. Players who consistently live out these standards create winning culture and earn trust over time.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
FCA Baseball is a competitive development program designed to prepare players for future success both on and off the field.
Our game model consists of nine starting players and up to three substitutes.
Every player on a roster is important, but playing time and opportunities are earned through preparation, performance, attitude, effort, coachability, and consistency.
We believe competition produces growth. Players develop best when they are challenged, held accountable, and surrounded by teammates who raise the standard every day.
Our objective is not simply to help players make a team today. Our objective is to prepare them for the opportunities and challenges they will face tomorrow.
GRADE-BASED TEAM MODEL
Whenever possible, FCA Baseball organizes teams primarily by grade level rather than age level.
Playing with and against players within the same graduating class helps:
• Prepare athletes for future high school roster competition
• Improve long-term development and evaluation
• Build stronger relationships within graduating classes
• Better align player development with future opportunities
Our goal is not simply to prepare players for the next season, but for the next level.
OUR MISSION
At FCA Baseball, we believe baseball is a powerful tool to teach life lessons that extend far beyond the field.
We want players to learn how to compete, overcome adversity, serve others, lead with humility, and honor God in everything they do.
Most importantly, we want our program to point athletes and families toward Jesus Christ through the way we compete, lead, respond, and serve.
